Here’s how we helped Moldindconbank meet EU banking standards by providing PSD2-compliant authentication.

We’ve got big news: Our successful partnership with Moldindconbank marks Wultra's first reference in Moldova.

Moldindconbank is Moldova’s second largest bank that’s trusted by more than 1 million clients. Its roots can be traced back to 1959, when the bank was first established to finance the construction of industrial objects, energetic complex enterprises, and highway roads. Today, Moldindconbank’s strategy is to be an innovative bank that constantly modernizes and perfects information technologies.

Wultra has partnered with Moldindconbank to provide the bank with our mobile token app, which has successfully served as a secure, convenient solution to its online banking security challenges.

Wultra has provided us with a secure, reliable method of authenticating our customers. Thanks to Wultra’s expertise in delivering and deploying the mobile token app, we’re confident in meeting the requirements of upcoming EU regulations. Now that we’re equipped with a PSD2-compliant application, Moldindconbank is in a strong position to lead innovation in the local financial market.

Paving the Way Toward Meeting EU Banking Standards

Moldova, a nation of approximately 2.6 million people, is home to a total of 11 banks operating in the country. Today, Moldova’s banking market is fiercely competitive, as the four largest banks hold more than 80 percent of the market. With this in mind, Moldova’s banks are experiencing a swift push toward the implementation of digital banking features, namely mobile banking and internet banking.

By leaning into the adoption of digital banking systems, Moldova’s banks are not only meeting the needs of their customers — they’re also aligning themselves with the requirements of EU banking standards.

Moldova applied for EU membership in March 2022 and was granted EU candidate status in June of the same year. Because Moldova is on the waiting list to join the European Union, the country is active in its preparations to align with EU regulations.

For the banking sector, this means the adoption of PSD2 regulation. Furthermore, from a cyber-security point of view, this meant that Moldindconbank needed to ensure its compliance with Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements.

Addressing Challenges with Our Mobile Token Solution

By partnering with Wultra, Moldindconbank complemented its current authentication methods. We also delivered a cost-efficient solution to Moldindconbank that provides a seamless user experience to the bank’s customers.

Our mobile token app provided Moldindconbank's customers with a secure and convenient way to access their accounts. The app is easy to use, and its user-friendly interface elevates the overall customer experience.

Most importantly, the app is compliant with PSD2 regulation, which ensures that Moldindconbank can remain competitive in the market even after Moldova eventually attains EU membership.

The mobile token app’s development process included extensive testing and collaboration with Moldindconbank's IT vendor, CS.
